We have recently seen a spur of online education sessions by the teachers but there is a big challenge in keeping the interest of students towards online teaching. So, for today’s generation, we must look for new techniques that will make online education a bit more interesting especially when the students are away from the classroom environment. One such technique is teaching through Gamification.

Let us briefly understand the term Gamification. It refers to giving some game elements to the process of study in order to create interest of the students towards studies. It simply means giving a grade or reward to students for the achievement, as it generates a sense of competition among the students and motivates them to do well.

Gamification can be used in many ways like video games, team games, quizzes, puzzles, etc. It will work for students in groups, in which every student will play the same game and in the end, few questions will be asked by the teacher who gives the highest number of right answers will get a reward.

Let us look at some of the online apps which will make the Gamification easy for all the teachers who are currently looking for methods of improving the interest of students in their lectures.

Microsoft Forms – This helps us to create questions/quizzes for the students. The only requirement is a Microsoft account (Hotmail / outlook etc.) and a very easy way to create online material.

Kahoot – This is a very good app that can be used for creating online quizzes. All can play on mobile or desktop and very helpful in keeping the interest of all users.

TEDEd– TEDEd creates fun-filled educating videos, they have also created video lessons that are actionable.
