As a teacher how do you want to approach your students?
Actually, there are two ways:
- Teacher centred education.
- Student-centred education.
There is a question which is best, Teacher centred education or Student-centred education.
In both type of education, the teacher is a centre point. Both types of education have some advantages and some drawbacks. Let’s talk about this education in brief:
1-Teacher centred education-
In teacher-centred education students have their all focused on the teacher. Here teacher teaches and students exclusively listen. It is a more traditional approach. The teacher functions in the familiar role of classroom lecture, presenting information to the students, who passively receive the knowledge. Teacher centred education doesn’t allow students to express themselves and ask a question to the teachers.
2-Student centred education-
Here the teacher is functioning like a coach or facilitator. Instead of listening to the teachers, students and teachers learn to collaborate and communicate with one another. This process helps to develop critical thinking and self-reflection habits. Students are actively helping and motivating spirit to succeed together but it requires a longer time for students so it is difficult to achieve curriculum target.
