Check Encryption of Sensitive Conversations
Although WhatsApp encrypts all chats by default, sometimes you need to double-check. It is a good practice to do this when sharing confidential information (such as credit card numbers) with trusted contacts.
To verify encryption, start a conversation with the contact. In the chat window, touch the contact’s name, and then touch Encrypt.
This XXXX-digit pattern is your security code. You can manually verify this code by comparing the numbers, asking the contact to scan the QR code, or using the “Scan Code” button to scan the contact’s code.

Activate Security Notification
When a new phone or laptop accesses an existing chat, a new security code will be generated for both phones. WhatsApp can send notifications when the security code changes. In this way, you can check the encryption with your friends through different messengers to ensure their security.

Enable Two-Step Verification
Two-step verification is a better way to prevent anyone’s account. WhatsApp provides a second layer of security to your account when you enable Two Factor Authentication, which is commonly referred to as 2FA.
For Android Device: Go to Menu > Settings > Account > Then click on Two-step verification> Enable to enable 2FA.

Cloud Backups should be Disabled
Although the end-to-end encryption is fantastic, there is one flaw: WhatsApp saves messages to Google Drive or iCloud. You’ll be able to access your previous messages if you reinstall it later. This backup, however, isn’t encrypted. So, if you truly care about your privacy, you should disable this feature. Keep in mind that keeping your data with Apple is a risky proposition. Follow the sequence to disable the cloud backup: For Android Device:
Open WhatsApp > Go to Menu > Then Settings > Chats > Chat Backup > Backup to Google Drive >Click Never

Don’t Let Everyone Add You to Groups
Are you aware that you have the ability to prohibit other users from adding you to groups?
You may use this functionality to allow anybody or just your contacts to add you to different groups. You may also choose contacts who are unable to add you to a WhatsApp group.

Keep Low Visibility
WhatsApp is not the most private messenger, but it does give users at least some control. Go to “Settings”> “Accounts”> “Privacy” to see all the content you can use.
You can control who can see your last view, profile picture, real-time information, status, and location. You can also disable read receipts here, so disable the blue checkmark.
