This is the best masterpiece of human nature, because it is the art of human beings with the ability to think and perform it. Because of this man has created a civilized society. The meaning of a civilized society is that it is constantly working on the basic principles, which includes the civil and political rights of human beings. The one who has the responsibility of preserving it. The function of the law is to make the society crime free and at the same time preserve the rights of the individual criminal and the victim. There are many laws regarding the rights of the offender, but the victim does not know enough about his rights. Is it enough justice to punish the culprit, in today’s time where there is so much delay in getting  justice? In this case, what rights does the victim have?

Rights of Victim

  1. Right to compensation – Cr.P.C. Sections 357 (a), (b) and (c) of 1973 provide for compensation and physical treatment to the victim which is provide by DLSA and SLSA . In addition, under section 357 (3), the court can also order the accused to provide compensation to the victim.
  2. Access to justice and Fair Treatment – Section 154 empowers the victim to notify the crime and obtain a free copy thereof.
